New York's Own Samba School

Samba New York! is a leading center for Brazilian samba culture in New York City, offering shows, classes in drumming and dance, and guided music trips to Brazil. The Estado do São Paulo, on of Brazil's most prominent newspapers, recently praised Samba New York! as "the most famous and active 'school of samba' in New York City."

New Classes at Cumbe in Brooklyn!

Samba New York! is expanding . . . into Brooklyn! Starting in January, you can take samba percussion classes for teens and adults with Director, Philip Galinsky at Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance. Come for a free class on Saturday, January 7 at 2:45 PM. Regular classes begin on January 11. We look forward to playing samba with you!

Bateria Rehearsal

Perhaps you’ve already taken our Suíngue Carioca immersion course, or maybe you already play samba. Well, then you might be ready to perform with our Bateria. This ongoing weekly workshop will train you to rock out with our professional all-percussion ensemble in some of NYC’s most exciting parades!
